Day 1 - To Paperbark Camp, 2 nights
Collect your hire car and head south on the Princes Hwy.
Paperbark Camp is 200kms from Sydney and is situated in beautiful
bush land near Jervis Bay.
You stay in one of ten unique, safari style tents each has private en suite facilities,
comfortable queen or twin beds, pure wool doonas, insect screens and solar powered lighting.
They are furnished with locally handcrafted bush furniture.
Both dinner and breakfast are included in your stay and you are sure to enjoy the Camps
wonderful cuisine as well as the stylish dining & living area. Named The Gunyah from an
aboriginal word for meeting place, or place of shelter this is the heart of the camp and
it is built high off the ground to enjoy the sea breeze and a view of the tree tops. Keep
an eye out for possums, sugar gliders and birds.
Day 2 - A day on the South Coast
Paperbark Camp is very much an activity-based camp centered around nature and the
local area also offers a diverse array of activities.
These include boating on Jervis Bay and the Currumbene Creek, with good bird watching
opportunities amongst the mangroves. The Bay plays host to an extraordinary diversity of
wildlife - dolphins and fur seals have made this coast their home and Bowen Island is a
rookery of the Australian Fairy Penguin. Relax in the sun; dive overboard for a swim,
snorkel, and watch for dolphins; stop on a sandy beach for a picnic barbeque
lunch.
The Booderee National Park on the southern shores of the bay is ideal for bushwalking
as are the short nature trails around the camp, where you may spy possums, Antechinus
or perhaps a Swamp Wallaby. Other options include a drive out to the lighthouse at
Point Perpendicular for views across the bay, or a drive south along the coast, or into
the Morton and Budawang National Parks, equipped with a picnic lunch.
Day 3 - Return to Sydney
Return to Sydney at your leisure, perhaps
taking the scenic route via Kangaroo Valley and
stopping at such small towns as Berrima, Bowral
and Mittagong.
