 Northern
Australia stretches from the Kimberley Plateau
through the Top End of the Northern Territory
to the tip of Cape York in Queensland.
This is a land that has been constantly occupied for
more than 60,000 years and yet today only 5% of our
population inhabit this half of the continent. The Top
End includes a wealth of rock art that is amongst the
oldest on earth and spectacular wetlands that attract a
myriad of birds. There are awe-inspiring rocky outcrops
and Precambrian escarpments up to 1.6 billion years old
and during the wet waterfalls gush. The abundant
wildlife includes bandicoots, possums, wallabies,
kangaroos, wallaroos, echidnas and crocodiles.
Introduced species include camels, donkeys, buffalo and
wild pig.
Access points to the region are Broome, Kununurra and
Darwin. Many of our journeys include charter flights and
the experience provides an understanding as to just how
vast & empty this ancient land is. In all instances we
combine accommodation that is either luxurious or
comfortably spiced with local flavor. We use the best
available guides and our hosts will welcome you as good
friends.

The Top End has only 2 seasons,
known to the locals as 'Wet' and 'Dry'.
Dry is from May to October, days are mild, nights
are cool and humidity is low. It is a time of
idyllic weather, sunshine, and fresh breezes.
The Wet occurs between November and April and is a
time of high humidity, thunder and lightening
storms, gushing waterfalls and lush green
countryside. Day temperatures average 32C but a
late afternoon storm is guaranteed to cool. Night
temperatures average 25°C.
Year round it is beautiful – take your pick – wet
or dry?
