Day 1 - Kings Canyon,
Kings Canyon Resort, 1 night
Meet your guide and depart via comfortable
air-conditioned 4WD vehicles. To the southwest visit the
Hermannsburg Historical Precinct, the first Aboriginal
Mission in the Northern Territory established by the
Lutheran Church. At Hermannsburgs art display, learn how
Albert Namatjira went from handyman to Australias
best-known Aboriginal painter.
Leave the tarmac behind and travel on 4wd tracks to
beautiful Palm Valley in Finke
Gorge National Park. The area holds cultural significance
to the Western Arrernte Aboriginal people. The Valley is
home to a diverse range of plant species, many of which
are rare and unique to the area, including the Red Cabbage
Palm. Time spent walking on the ancient valley floor
reveals relicts of the areas tropical past.
Entering Aboriginal land on the unsealed Mereenie Loop
Road takes you towards the George Gill Range, Watarrka
National Park and the spectacular Kings Canyon. The drive
is through stark and typically outback scenery spinefex,
sand plains and clay pans.
Overnight at Kings Canyon in a deluxe Rangeview room.
Day 2 - Uluru,
Desert Gardens (or similar), 1 night
An early morning guided walk along the rim of Kings
Canyon provides views into the chasm 270 metres (900ft)
below. With over 600 species of plant, Kings Canyon is
botanically the richest region in all of arid Australia.
After breakfast depart for Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park.
In the afternoon travel to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) to
witness the spectacular colour changes of sunset on the
rocky domes. Enjoy complimentary champagne before
returning to your accommodation at The Desert Gardens
Hotel or Sails in the Desert Hotel in the Ayers Rock
Resort.
Day 3 -
The journey ends
This morning you will walk one of the oldest walking
tracks on earth as you follow the Tjukurpa of the
ancestral beings around the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock) on
the famous Uluru Walk.
After the sunrise transforms Uluru into a shimmering red,
relax at the base of this majestic monolith with your
picnic breakfast and absorb the solitude. As you follow
the Ancestral stories of the creation theories of Uluru,
experience the incredible ecology that this rock hosts.
Combine this with a 900 million year geological origin and
you understand why this Park is World Heritage listed.
(There is the option to tour by vehicle, stopping at
vantage points).
Transfer to the Airport in
time for your departure flight.
