Australia is the world's smallest continent & largest island.

It is the sixth-largest country with a total area is 7,686,850.
This makes it slightly smaller than the US contiguous 48 states.

Australia’s coastline stretches 25,760 kms and we share no land borders.

It is an ancient and eroded land with the lowest point being Lake Eyre at 15 meters and the highest peak being Mount Kosciusko at 2,229 meters.

The population in July 2002 was estimated at 19,546,800 and more than 80% live on the southern coastal plains.

Australia’s capital is Canberra and we are a democracy consisting of 6 states and 2 territories.

Independence was granted on 01 January 1901 and Australia day is celebrated on 26 January each year.
