Cradle
Mountain Lodge is a unique wilderness retreat on the
edge of the World Heritage Listed Cradle Mountain/Lake
St. Clair National Park. This is a superb escape with
breathtaking scenery, cosy cabins, magnificent meals
and days filled with natures pleasures.
At Cradle Mountain Lodge, guest accommodations are dotted
amongst tree-lined ranges and overlook grassy folds. There are
96 private timber cabins varying from the luxury spa suites to
the simple but comfortable pencil pine cabins. All cabins have
log fires (as well as electric heaters), tea/coffee facilities
and Tasmanian wood furnishings. There are no telephones or
televisions in the guest cabins; the guest lounge offers
television, a reference library as well as board games.

Meals
are served in the casual Tavern Bistro and Bar or
the Highlander Restaurant. There is also a General
Store offering such small essentials as well as hire
of day packs, gumboots, raincoats, spinning and fly
rods, thermos flasks, toboggans etc.
Spend your days exploring this World Heritage landscape of
peaks, lakes, rainforests and moorland with an easy amble or a
full day hike. The track to the top of the mountain (1,545
meters above sea level) is an eight-hour return walk, but
there are many other shorter, easier walks lower down. There
are over 20 guided walking tracks around the lodge and Dove
Lake ranging from 20 minutes to 9 hours.
Wallabies, wombats and possums are frequently seen as they
criss-cross the timber boardwalks and walking trails through
out the resort. There are also pad melons and Bennett's
wallabies in the area. At night the nocturnal animals that
inhabit the park - the Tasmanian devil and possums - come to
the Lodge to be fed.
