Originally built as home to the Brigandine order of Nuns in Coonamble, about 600kms west of the Hunter Valley, The Convent was relocated and is now a romantic retreat surrounded by magnificent landscaped gardens and vineyards and just a short stroll from the renowned Robert's Restaurant and Pepper Tree Winery.

Inside, the Convent has been decorated in a French Baroque style, featuring luxurious furnishings and a warm intimacy. Relax in the guest lounge with a good book and a glass of Peppertree wine; take in the charm and tranquility.
                                                                                                       
The Covent has 17 elegant guest rooms each featuring, huge double beds, original furniture, French doors opening to wide verandahs and views over the Hunter Valley. All rooms have en suite bathrooms most with a wonderfully deep bathtub and there are many thoughtful extras such as tea & coffee facilities and bathrobes.

A highlight of any stay is lunch or dinner at Robert’s Restaurants, just a short stroll from The Convent. Robert’s is a much-awarded restaurant set in an 1878 National Trust listed cottage, and has been described as the Hunter’s most beautiful dining room. The chef offers specialties from his fine-leaf fuelled wood fired oven. A short drive away is the Hunter Valleys most awarded restaurant - Chez Pok. The menu at Chez Pok is a direct reflection of its regional surrounds featuring a unique Australian style influenced by French, Asian and Italian. Naturally both restaurants showcase an extensive wine list of locally produced wines.

Between The Convent & The Valley there is plenty to do - enjoy superb wine only footsteps from your room; relax and unwind in the warmth of the Spa Pavilion or just floating in the outdoor pool; the ideal way to explore the surrounding countryside at your own pace is on a hired bicycle; enjoy a hit of tennis or a round of golf; perhaps a game of boules is more your pace; take a horse drawn carriage ride; visit the cheese & chocolate factories; mark a special occasion with a sunrise hot air ballooning flight
