Colonial Country House, Tasmania

 Set
amongst 200 acres of pastureland, this beautiful 19th
century Georgian country house was built with convict
labour in the 1830s. Today it is the home of Remi
& Ginette Bancal - who offer their guests a fusion
of contemporary elegance, French culinary tradition
and historic style.
Upstairs in the main house are four enormous and beautifully
furnished en suite bedrooms. Each room is individually styled
and offers picture perfect views. Downstairs is a family suite
with private access to the verandah and also the small and
private Suite Rustique, which is separate to the main house.

The
main drawing room and dining room have been exquisitely
decorated and dinner is a gourmet affair supported
by Remi’s extraordinary wine cellar. After dinner,
there is the opportunity sit back in front of the
fire and enjoy a glass from what must be Australia’s
largest whisky collection!
The
location gives guests easy access to some of Tasmania’s
most beautiful natural scenery. The Western Tiers offer
endless bush walking trails and waterfalls while a day
trip west may take in Cradle Mountain, Mole Creek
National Park and the limestone caves at Marakoopa. To
the east are the vineyards of the Tamar Valley and
historic towns - this area was the focus of early
settlement and much of the original architecture remains
providing insight into its convict associations.
